About Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA)

The Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA) is the regional organisation representing 32 professional accountancy organisations (PAOs) from 23 jurisdictions, operating in, or with an interest in, Asia Pacific. Collectively identified as CAPA’s members, these PAOs have a membership of over 2 million qualified accountants

CAPA is one of four Regional Organisations recognised by the global accountancy profession, which is represented by the International Federation of Accountants. From this unique position CAPA aspires to be recognised as an inspirational leader for the accountancy profession in Asia Pacific.

CAPA aims to fulfill this through its’ mission to enhance the value of the accountancy profession in Asia Pacific by:

  1. Contributing to the development of professional accountancy organisations
  2. Promoting ethical values and the benefits of high quality accounting, reporting and assurance
  3. Speaking out as a voice of the accountancy profession

About CAPA Conference

The First Far East Conference of Accountants was staged in Manila, Philippines in 1957 and witnessed many professional accountants from across the Asia Pacific region coming together to share knowledge and insights. This conference has since been officially recognised as the 1st CAPA Conference. Over the years, the CAPA Conference has been held nineteen times, in twelve countries, and is a key flagship event in the CAPA calendar.

Designed to further foster a cohesive and collaborative accountancy profession within the region and to be the gathering and melting pot of top minds in the community, the 20th CAPA Conference is a significant milestone in the regional profession’s history. Last held in South Asia more than a decade ago, it returns in 2021 to be proudly hosted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, in conjunction with the Institute’s 42nd National Conference of Chartered Accountants.

The event is earmarked to continue the tradition of providing a forum to debate contemporary and emerging issues impacting the accountancy profession. The anticipated congregation of more than 2500 delegates from 30 countries with more than 50 speakers and moderators, held against a backdrop of a rapidly changing social, economic and technological landscape, is expected to foster imaginations, garner insights and drive the future of our profession in Asia Pacific and beyond.

About The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) takes great pride in being the change makers of Sri Lanka’s accounting arena. For over 60 years, CA Sri Lanka has been the vanguard in developing the accounting profession in Sri Lanka, while also playing a critical role in South Asia to ensure the profession continues to be an important catalyst in the success of the region.

Chartered Accountants produced by CA Sri Lanka are considered a brand of unique and versatile professionals, with the ability to steer businesses across multiple industries successfully. A significant percent of Chartered Accountants produced by CA Sri Lanka play an influential role across the dynamic corporate world holding distinguished leadership and board positions.

Identified as the torch bearers of the accountancy profession in the country, CA Sri Lanka was established in the year 1959 by an Act of Parliament and was the first professional accountancy body to be incorporated in the country.

Today, CA Sri Lanka has taken over the reins as an influential world class professional body to provide insight and leadership to the accountancy and finance professions both in Sri Lanka as well as globally. CA Sri Lanka has also played a remarkable role in helping enhance the financial landscape in the country, which has contributed immensely towards the economic development of Sri Lanka.

The Institute continuously focuses on enhancing the professional skills of its members, in ensuring that they continue to play a significant role in partnering businesses and thereby contribute to the success of the profession as well as to the public and private sectors with the ultimate aim of strengthening the national economy of Sri Lanka.

CA Sri Lanka has forged ties across the international accounting arena and is a member of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA), founder member of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA), and an Associate Member of Chartered Accountants Worldwide (CAW).

About The National Conference of Chartered Accountants

A landmark concept founded by CA Sri Lanka in the year 1979, the National Conference of Chartered Accountants is Sri Lanka's biggest business summit annually attracting over 2000 delegates.

The National Conference attracts an unprecedented number of delegates every year, including Chartered Accountants who are business leaders and c-suite executives.

Over the years, the National Conference of Chartered Accountants has built a reputation as a business summit which provokes thoughts and spurs insights on broad economic and business issues, apart from its core emphasis on finance related topics.
